DIY Cocktail Stirrers

Love a good French 75? Put a Glitterati in it. An Aviation more your thing? Garnish with our Little Bud. Whatever your drink of choice we have a cocktail stirrer to match. Check out all the #makertakes below and share your DIYs with us on Twitter or Instagram.

The three DIY cocktail stirrers below all use materials from our Twist & Shout Collection, but feel free to go crazy with the swizzle sticks. We used a Silhouette Portrait Cutter and metallic card stock to create the LOL and YAY cocktail stirrers. Don't have one? No problem. Evenly apply spray adhesive to a 5"x7" piece of cardboard (the top of our collection box works well) and carefully apply a piece of gold mylar that's been cut to the same size. Let that dry for about 20 minutes. In the meantime, sketch out what letters or a word you'd like to cut out on the back of the cardboard. If you'd like to do an acronym or word make sure all the letters are touching. Once it's dry use an X-acto knife to cut out the letters and glue to the top of a swizzle stick.

Glitterati Cocktail Stirrers

Tools & Materials:
- gold mylar
- 4 swizzle sticks
- glue stick or metalized mylar tape
- scissors

Instructions:
Cut a 2" x 30" strip from a sheet of gold mylar. Using your scissors cut straight lines 1/4" apart from one another down the entire 30" strip. Make sure to leave a 1/2" edge at the top. Cut the 30" strip into 4 sections. If using a glue stick gently adhere a layer of glue to the 1/2" edge of each section. Otherwise tape one piece of mylar (fringe side up) 1/2" below the top of a swizzle stick (the side without the ball). Wrap the mylar around the stick and if needed add a little glue to the end to keep the mylar from unraveling. Repeat on all the swizzle sticks and place in a fizzy drink.

Little Bud Cocktail Stirrers

Tools & Materials:
- tissue paper in peach and limon
- gold mylar
- 4 swizzle sticks
- glue stick
metalized mylar tape
- scissors

Instructions:
You can make four matching flowers or make a wildflower assortment like we did. For the chrysanthemum (flower of the left) coat the swizzle stick ball with glue. Rip a small section, roughly a 1" circle from the limon colored tissue paper and tightly wrap around the ball. Next, cut a 2" x 30" strip from a sheet of peach tissue paper. Using your scissors cut straight lines 1/4" apart from one another down the entire 30" strip. Make sure to leave a 1/2" edge at the top. Cut the 30" strip into 4 sections and gently adhere a layer of glue to the 1/2" edge of each section. Attach a fringe strip right below the ball and wrap the stick. For the final touch cut a leaf like shape from a sheet of gold mylar and attach to the bottom of the flower using gold mylar tape.

If you've decided to mix it up with the thistle (on the right), you'll need the two remaining strips of peach fringe and to cut a 1" x 15" strip from a sheet of limon tissue paper. Cut the strip in half and use the same fringing method from above. Next cut a 1" x 2" piece of gold mylar and cut out a zig-zag fringe pattern out on one side. Make sure to leave a 1/2" edge. Gently apply glue to the strip of peach fringe, limon fringe and the mylar strip. Attach the peach fringe 1/2" below the top of the swizzle stick (the side without the ball). Wrap it around the stick then add the limon fringe right below. Lastly, wrap the gold zig-zag right below the limon and flip the triangles out so that they look like leaves. Repeat the process on the remaining swizzle stick. We love these miniature paper flowers and think they'd look amazing oversized as well.

Wanna stick with our original design of the Clink Cocktail Stirrers but add a little something extra? Double the swizzle stick fun by adding a flag. Cut out a triangle from our watercolor patterns and glue to the top of the swizzle stick. Easy as that!
