the 411: natural dying

After using tea to dye the Charlotte Lace Earring Holder we remembered just how fun it is to dye fabric with things you already have in your kitchen. Coffee, carrots and even spinach can be used to dye fabric. Hate that shirt? Put some radishes on it.

Test with a strip of fabric first or dive right in if you're feeling adventurous. Play with proportions and materials.

Strawberries will make a pretty Carmine red

Carrots turn fabrics into gorgeous deep saffron

Radishes liven it up turning fabrics into a light magenta

Lavender is a lovely shade of...well...lavender

Coffee antiques your fabrics making them any variation from eggshell to burgundy

Spinach will give you an elegant forrest green
