Yasmin Sewell

There are a lot of street style mavens out there today, but few can pull off bold colors as well as Yasmin Sewell. When she's not consulting with the likes of Chloe, Hermes and ASOS, she's knocking it out of the ball park with playful and bright ensembles. We loved this brushstroke pattern mixed with chunky silvers (dare we say it's very Sunclipse) and recreated it below paired with our Bohdi Wire Earrings

Behind the Design: Sunclipse Collection

Take a technicolor trip this month with our Sunclipse Collection. Inspired by the sun kissed colors of India, sixties psychedelia, and weaving techniques, you'll wanna kick up the A/C and spend a night in with these four projects. Can't wait to un-box?  That's ok, we can't either. Check out all the Sunclipse Collection details below!

Have you heard? All the colors are the new black. ChanelValentino and Isa Arfen aced the trend in their Resort runway presentations and we channeled these palettes throughout this collection, specifically the Devi Woven Wall Hanging. We kicked off this collection with lots of weaving research and workshopping. Many of the techniques originate from Kashmir, the Indian textile capital, where the patterns and colors heavily influenced the psychedelic styles of the sixties. While India may have the largest ownership of looms in the world, we here at For the Makers are pretty proud of the super simple loom we crafted using the collection box and a pair of scissors. Recycling has never looked this good!

Hot weather is here and she ain't leaving anytime soon. Lighten your look with luminous chain in the Miramar Knotted Bracelet and dainty sterling silver in the Bohdi Wire Earrings.

After the prototyping and the sourcing comes the packing. This month's was a doozy. The whole team spent days counting hundreds of beads (YES! Hundreds in each collection!) and individually wrapping balls of yarn while simultaneously catching up on The Bachelorette (we're team Ben at the moment).

Last, but not least comes the look book. We love a good challenge. Armed with just color gels, a mirror and a squirt bottle we recreated some major sauna vibes for this month's photo shoot.

Miss the Sunclipse Collection? No worries! Check The Shop soon for individual projects and get your hands on our August collection by claiming it here. In the meantime keep on sharing your #makertakes with us! As always, happy making!

Behind the Design: Bryce Collection

With the increase in heat comes the need for fuss-free fashion staples. We're talking loose natural fiber garments, messy top knots and the four projects included in the Bryce Collection. Inspired by Southwestern landscapes and the runways of The Row, Ulla Johnson and Burberry, this month's collection airs on the side of bohemian chic with rusty reds, bold brass jewelry and speckled muslin. Follow the collection's process and take a peek at what goes on behind the scenes, below!

The mood board this month all started with brass hardware sourced from Turkey. Each piece is delicate, raw and unique giving it the rugged quality of ancient petroglyphs. Next we turned every fruit and vegetable in our path into a dye. Blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, plums, onion skins, avocado skin, cabbage, kale (#CraftFail); essentially everything, but the kitchen sink. Our raspberry and blackberry swatches made it onto the board, along side some uh-mazing agates we found and photos of cacti and hoodoos in Bryce Canyon.

We honed in on this month's aesthetic with the casually structured ensembles of The Row's 2015 Pre-fall presentation. (Those hand beaded slides? A girl can dream.) Our Zion Necklace, illustrated in all of it's glory by the talented Evie would pair perfectly with such an outfit. The agates we used for the pendant were reminiscent of the sedimentary rock formations of Utah and Arizona

As the collection's name implies, Bryce Canyon was a major source of inspiration. We loved how the curved brass hardware used in the Indah Earrings suggest the slopes and inclines of Southwestern canyons and valleys, as well as the ancient petroglyphs engraved into its sides. Evie's illustration and these pieces by Demimonde Jewelry both incorporate that rustic beauty.

Go wild! We've been wanting to explore the world of natural dying for months now, and we've finally done it with our Outerlands Tote. Make your own natural dyes from items already found in your kitchen. Like we said earlier...we tested everything.

A collection is never complete without the lookbook. With our projects planned and prototyped we called up our girl, Lindsey and had her model this month's pieces.

Check out the Bryce Collection to make all four projects now! Miss out? No worries, check The Shop soon for individual projects and while you're at it, go ahead and claim next month's collection.

Seen On: Alexa Chung

Leave it to Alexa Chung to master the summer outfit. This British It-Girl sported florals and a picnic inspired purse to last year's Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup Polo match. Can it get any more British than that? Get the look below.

Behind the Design: Hyde Park Collection

Tea sandwiches? Check. Flowers in full bloom? Check. A bottle of rose? Errr...we're gonna need another one stat! This month's Hyde Park Collection is all about picnics, English gardens, It-Girls and the beauty of botanicals. And with gingham strutting down the runways of Oscar de la Renta, Michael Kors and Altuzarra it looks like we're not the only ones inspired by British charm. Get a closer look at the process behind this month's collection below!

While we adore Pinterest, we like to start every month off with a physical mood board. This month we looked to florals, gingham and all things minty in color.

Like we said gingham is everywhere, from It-Girl Alexa Chung to all the top runway shows. Oscar de la Renta nailed it with this sheer gingham set and a wall full of flowers as a backdrop. We translated this number into our Kensington Waxed Wraps, as illustrated and packed them with tea sandwiches. From a classic cucumber, cream cheese and dill to smashed avocado and radish, there's really no wrong way to make a mini sandwich.

Roses may be the universal flower for love, but they also make a killer skin toner. We sourced pink Himalayan salt, corse and fine Dead Sea salt and natural rose water for this month's English Rose Scrub to bring the best of the garden into your beauty regime. We've got some amazing face scrub #makertakes up our sleeves so keep your eyes on The Source.

Cool with a hint of retro, mint is the new black. At Paris Fashion Week, in country estates or infused with water, this fresh shade goes with everything. The Kensington Waxed Wraps and the Hawthorn Bracelet both have pops of mint mixed with florals and rosy pinks.

We might be a little obsessed with tea sandwiches...

We packed our tea sandwiches (in waxed wraps of course) and shot the Hyde Park lookbook at the Conservatory Gardens in Central Park. The flowers were out, the birds were chirping and we even saw a couple get engaged! The day was practically out of a Jane Austen novel.

We did manage to petal bomb our model...Casey, you're the best!

If you missed out on this month's Hyde Park Collection, make sure to reserve next month's now! Don't forget to check The Source for further DIY tutorials and follow us on Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest for our on the go inspiration and sourcing adventures!
