I couldn't get the crimp to bend over either even with the help of my boyfriend! Will try again tomorrow with a hammer.

I just got my first box and while I was starting to make the hair tie I realized that my kit did not include the large crimp to make it. Is there anyway one could be shipped to me? I really love that ponytail look

@corinnedriscoll You could try a bracelet wrap! ;-)

So simple but might be my favorite item in this box. Love it with a messy bun too!

Perhaps a video would help with steps 5&6 since several of us are having trouble with the crimp.

Just made this and am wearing it as a wrap bracelet instead. The crimp gave me a lot of trouble. No matter how much strength I used, I could not get the crimp to bend over onto itself. Maybe I needed bigger pliers (used the ones I have in my jewelry tools kit), but I ended up just enclosing the faux leather one one side and the elastic on the other and crimping down both sides. Once I wrapped it around my wrist, there wasn't enough length on the faux leather cord, so I tucked each end under the elastic.

@emilyruth728 we wrap the leather around in opposite directions to hide the elastic and then tie a knot on the underside of your ponytail.

I like the wrap bracelet idea! My hair is also too short to need a ponytail holder.

I only got the crimp to bend over itself by using a hammer.

@chiyi @angie456 we didn't try the hammer idea but that could work. It is metal which means the more you try to bend it the harder it becomes. This is called work hardening. Our pliers are pretty heavy duty. We also used a hard surface to bend the metal around the pliers like a sturdy wooden table or your floor. Or a really strong set of hands:)

Hi @charityborne - we order them in crazy large quantities from our vendor but you can find smaller quantities of similar items by searching "metal crimps" They have some similar items on ebay, etsy or amazon!
