Gather your tools and materials. There are several variations you can make for this project. We are going to start with the simplest version shown at the top, but scroll down to see the other variations and choose which one you want to make. Feel free to freestyle it as well!

You can freehand the cutting, but if you want all even pieces take a ruler and divide your paper into four even sections. Mark a thin line lengthwise where your scissors will cut across.

Franzmobile-option1-3 Pin-it%402x

Cut out all 6 sheets. If you make 4 even sections you should end up with 24 pieces. You can cut some wider or thinner depending on your preference.

Franzmobile-option1-4 Pin-it%402x

Line them all up leaving a tiny bit of space between each one.

Franzmobile-option1-5 Pin-it%402x

Find the center point (you can guess as well) and put a tiny mark at the top.

Franzmobile-option1-6 Pin-it%402x

Tie a loop knot at the top of your monofilament. This will be used to hang it later.

Franzmobile-option1-7 Pin-it%402x

About 2-4 inches from the first piece of paper, lie the loop knot across the center.

Franzmobile-option1-8 Pin-it%402x

Peel off one sticker and place it on top of the monofilament and the paper at the center point. Press down. If you made your pieces of paper thinner in width you can cut the stickers in half.

Franzmobile-option1-9 Pin-it%402x

Repeat all the way down.

Franzmobile-option1-10 Pin-it%402x

Cut off any excess wire. Hang it up with another sticker, tape, a thumb tack or hook.

Option1-tutorialfinal Pin-it%402x

It's beautiful hung neatly in a window spot! This completes version 1, start at the next step if you'd like to make version 2.

Franzmobile-option2-1 Pin-it%402x

Gather your tools and materials. The only thing you'll need in addition to the first tutorial is a glue stick and the printable shapes template.

Franzmobile-option2-2 Pin-it%402x

Cut the shapes out from the template.

Franzmobile-option2-3 Pin-it%402x

Trace the shapes onto the card stock and cut out the number shown on the template. 4 rectangles, 4 squares, 3 triangles, 5 circles, and 4 hexagons. You'll have enough paper to make extra shapes if you'd like to make a longer mobile.

Franzmobile-option2-4 Pin-it%402x

Fold all the shapes in half as shown.

Franzmobile-option2-5 Pin-it%402x

Start with the long rectangles. Apply glue to one of the outside halves of each piece and stick them together lining up the edges.

Franzmobile-option2-6 Pin-it%402x

Take another folded rectangle and glue it to the first rectangle. Make sure their folded edges are aligned.

Franzmobile-option2-7 Pin-it%402x

Repeat these steps for the rest of the rectangles until you have a stack of them. Tie a loop knot in the wire and put the wire in the center of the folded rectangles right at the spine. Add some glue where the wire is and then glue the rectangles together.

Franzmobile-option2-8 Pin-it%402x

Repeat this glueing method all the way down with the different shapes. Leave about an inch or two between each shape.

Franzmobile-option2-9 Pin-it%402x

Cut the excess cord off the bottom and allow to dry fully before hanging.

Make more in different colors or paint this one with watercolors to give it a personalized touch.
